Unpaginated collection of tinted photographs depicting Japanese women and landscapes. N.d. circa 1908. The book opens after the fashion of a concertina, and is bound in a very pretty patterened cloth. The item is persented in a box, itself bound in a decorative cloth, which has become somewhat darkened with age. Small tears and lifts to cloth covering box.

Interestingly, her aunt, by clever subterfuge, sending in a piece of art for consideration to the Royal Academy under her initials only, succeeded in shaming that institution into altering its admission policies so as to allow women into the Royal Academy Schools. In attractive decorated blue cloth boards, which are a bit bumped at head and foot and at the corners. Top edge gilt. Some scattered foxing, and some marking to the cloth.

[1893] 104 pages of pre-washing machine and hoover domestic advice-giving; exhausting merely to read. Fascinating nonetheless. Great decorative boards, ironically, the front cover has a stain, but perhaps that adds to its charm. Also contains ads for several cleaning products (the brand names mysteriously featuring frequently in the text).
